Topics for August 26th

Today We Discussed:

What a great day!  Today we introduced ourselves and settled in to our classroom.  We discussed classroom rules and expectations, and how to best interact with each other during class.  Textbooks were handed out and we even played a strategy-based game called Nim.

Our Algebra lesson focused on some of the language of Algebra and how words can be translated into algebraic expressions.

Vocabulary:  variable, algebraic expression, equation, open sentence

Translating mathematical expressions

Assignments:

1) Play at least one game of Nim with a parent or friend.
2) Worksheet 1-1 (all problems).
3) Have course syllabus signed and returned by Thursday.
